I can't speak for Jamaica, but similarly there is a huge affection for freaking country and western music in the lower Caribbean islands. I'm talking Loratta Lynn/Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton-type country. Hell, St Lucia even had country and western singoffs in the style of American Idol.
