lovely summary of my beef with storytelling holes i thought they should fill, I kept pausing at particular scenes and thinking would a new player have any idea what was going on here?

Are you kidding that boss was fun as hell, they’d just done an unbelievable job of bringing Midgar to life in 3d it was fantastic like my imagination got animated. They could have stopped at the end of the bridge and said what now? we’ve gotta leave and i’d have been happy. (I thought they might actually do the Kalm…
I felt exactly the same, when I got past the rollerboss I had a huge smile then when I saw what came next I was just saying no no no at the TV lmao don’t do this!
Everything you’ve said is correct, yet the proof is in the pudding :p
I too seperated it into 2 sets of 2 and found it much easier with the sound off, I’d fairly frequently screw it up when Jules would fall over and if you fall off at any point your done.
the tight spaces are loading screens btw, its like elevators but a little more cinematic
this was my thought lmao, who knows the vulnerabilities better?
It could be nuance is too soft of a word maybe I should go for subtle storytelling instead of overt.
No worries mate I would never hit anyone with the spoilers but my 5% was merely referring to how much of the games scope is outside of a renewed approach to what was already there not how much is there directly which would be like... 2000% lmao as we’ve gone from 3 hours to 30 and a bit.
Its definitely passionate and you can tell they really care about what they’ve made and if they try that hard for the sequels i can’t see myself not being extremely entertained.
yet the rest of it works a second time? :p
your post is right in most cases but the fact is it is a 1:1 remake except for about 2 hours so maybe 5%? Padded sure but if it was in the original chances are its there now.
Nuance is dead in media sadly its a sledgehammer or nothing, I felt much the same as you and I was pretty concerned on my way to the top floor that they’d go for something as obvious as they did.
I agree with everything you’ve written, but that isn’t why their first party games are lacking that is entirely to do with decision making and studio acquisitions. Sony are responsible for a good number of this generations best games IMO (or bribed for them) and that is the part that MS need to change.
pressing F and paying respects, some really top notch articles came out of Kotaku this last year or two and they usually had your name on them
The Nintendo lesson is you can leverage literally anything if you look after your first party game library well enough, Sony has done a reasonable job of taking this onboard but MS still seem a little wayward :p
Woah woah wait a minute, its the PS2 you can’t think of games to replay?
I find it interesting that so many people who play Xcom despise the aiming rng but never complain about the spawn system which i personally found far worse :p
they’d have to do work then, its much easier to write about the current mainstream game each week and do not much else :p
yeah but Valorant isn’t out was my point, apex just got dumped on us like here its finished go play.
