All those things were also true fifteen years ago when Nintendo put Ocarina of Time on the Wii, with far fewer lag and performance issues than it’s experiencing on the vastly superior Switch hardware. This just reeks of a phoned-in, half-assed job.
It’s not just worse than “a bunch of amateurs,” it’s worse than their own work from not just the Wii and Wii U, but even the GameCube. One generation up from the N64 can do emulation of it better than what Nintendo’s done here. It’s incredibly pathetic.
Insane how much they’re charging for it, full stop. On top of that, the fact it’s awful just makes it that much worse.
How the hell are these huge billion dollar companies so much worse at emulation than a bunch of amateurs who do this as a hobby?
Nobody makes a 3-handed controller anymore.
Emulators are legal for archival purposes, and like you said, Nintendo seems to be removing options for legally repurchasing games and making archival impossible in other methods. They are making it impossible to not emulate.
...and I think at the end of the day most of us would like to be playing the games in some legal way...
Retropie is *perfectly* legal, per existing US Supreme Court precedent. As is legally backing up games you own. And getting (m0st) games legally isn’t that hard, given the internet is a thing.
This makes pulling the Mario collection even more cynical. “Let’s make this set of games limited edition so we can stick an inferior version on our buggy online service!” Just, wow.
Honestly, I get the convenience factor and the...possible...multiplayer, but building a Retropie is only $50, is pretty easy, and will last you years
Man. I was on the fence about getting this expansion pack, but seeing all these issues, I’m out. N64 has always been weird to emulate, but I hoped Nintendo would be able to figure out their own damn product, especially for the price they expect us to pay for it.
It’s a real shame new players miss out on the old events. It would be nice if they could be activated once as part of the story for players that missed out.
An enjoyable event, as it gave us reason to explore the map again, too, with purpose, which is one of the more enjoyable passive traits of Genshin.
Thanks to some jerk named Newton, Link will slowly descend over time while gliding (and will fall completely when out of stamina).
....you underestimate the power of 8-16 bit and new style Retro looking games
What I see is a vent that has become even more effective at venting. Think of it as a lifehack.
I think most people after not seeing a close friend for a few years who had gained weight would definitely comment and joke about it.
yeah! because this harmless, innocent artist who generally does his best to be good and kind to people deserves to be dusted because you hate his art! fuck that nerd!
