Idk what crime or drug culture is like in France—aside from terrorism, crime doesn’t seem to be as terrifying there as in the US, and they don’t seem like they’re always hopped up on something. This guy is still trying get legislation passed that will allow him to charge inmates a fee for staying in county jails.

The sheriff sounds like an ass, but I don’t see the problem if the inmates I want to do it. If they were paid and received some kind of training and an opportunity to, say, join the Coast Guard or a disaster relief organization in the process, that would be cool.
