I haven't read any of Slott's stuff besides Spider-Verse, but my consolation prize for losing a Marvel trivia game at a con years ago was a wonderfully bad sketch he did of the Awesome Android as a Skrull ("years ago" can here be read as "during Secret Invasion"), so I've always had vaguely positive feelings about him.
