I hear a lot of "the police are being attacked" with no evidence to back it up. I read a lot of phantom "Molotov cocktails" with no evidence of fire or explosions in the police lines other than the tear gas grenades and flares being launched into the crowd. I read a lot of "shots fired toward police" with no one

One would think that massive media coverage would make them rethink how their actions are perceived by the public and received by the community that are supposed to protect. Instead, it seems to fuel their abhorrent behavior.

Its not a coincidence that the cops started cracking down tonight. They knew the autopsy report was going to drop and this is a great way to both distract from it and use the few protesters seeking confrontations as a way to build support for the police and their actions. The cops may be heavy handed and just plain

This is being pointed out over in Gawker, but: who the hell is in command? Capt. Johnson said that no teargas would be used, but here it is. As OMG!PONIES! asked, are the cops just firing it without orders? Have they been ordered to fire it?

The earlier reports of shots that prompted tear gas seemed to have been fireworks... this shit is unreal.

The video is far less butt orientated then her rap ones. Can't help but feel her managers/ record labels have stuck ass padding on her, told her to sound ghetto then waited for the $$$ to come flooding in... Like, hey you know what's selling well these days? White girls, black booties. She'll do.

Women can never criticize other women without some asshole lazily replying "Bitches be jealous". Because of course we're always jealous and if you're a WOC you are born jealous of white women.

lol...and pigs will fly

I don't care about her background, but I tried to listen to that Fancy track the other day, shit was annoying as hell.

before this video I had my doubts about how authentic she was. The video only confirms what doubters say about her voice, mannerisms aka mimicking rap culture instead of growing up with it.

I'm just some white lady from the deep desert in western Arizona, but I grew up on West-coast gangsta rap (I'm in my early 30's). So I think her being a fan of rap is quite believable, though I suspect, much like me, she wasn't a SUPER fan and it was just music she listened to along with everything else she listened

I've talked to a few of my friends who love rap music (I'd say I'm a casual fan) and they all lump her in with people like Pitbull who happen to rap but make pop music.

Exactly. She sounds totally new to rap. Like, if she's a big fucking fan, she should sound more comfortable and natural. This video leaked and it just reaffirmed the doubt I have in her authenticity.

That makes sense. See, i figured those were things she played up because that's what she felt would give her credit in rap to begin with. working 3 jobs, writing her own material, the kind of music she listened to—none of those things would be relevant if she was an outright pop star.

"Womanizer" wins by landslide

It's not that it's pop music, it's that it's terrible pop music. I love pop! I love Britney! I also love hip hop! But now it seems like Iggy was hungry enough for fame that the case for her racial insensitivity (or racism?) is stronger. She failed at pop, did rap (and so poorly- Autotune plus vocal fry owwwwe owwww

It doesn't matter what black people do. Whether we speak "articulately" or with slang—which, I mean, goddamn...why is this such a point of contention with y'all, context clues are a thing—we are at risk of being devalued, killed, and villainized.

I AM WHITE AND AM CONFUSED BY THE VERNACULAR IN THIS PIECE. IS THIS A GOOD PLACE TO ASK ABOUT IT?

SO MANY WHITE PEOPLE..... I can't even deal.... Man, I fucking love Kara. She's awesome.

Now playing

It's a common phrase and probably a reference.
