Until every black man in the world tells her she’s beautiful, then YES it IS stereotyping. Also, if those particular black men are complimenting her, chances are she’s not the only big white woman they’ve complimented.

I won’t dispute that she got the role because she’s light skinned. I’m not sure if I can get behind the theory that Mindy would be less successful if she went by her real last name. If she can be this successful as a dark skinned, chubby Indian woman, then I don’t see how her last name would matter.

I think it has to do with social repercussions. If Jimmy’s friends or male co-workers discover that he makes less money than his wife, they could make fun of him and call him “the wife” in the relationship, which emasculates him. Jimmy could tell his friends to fuck off but Jimmy cares about his reputation as a “real…
