I hate that I forgot about that BS.

Recently. He said Stop and Frisk isn’t racist against black people. I’ve never been Stopped and frisked. So if black people don’t want to be stopped and frisked then they should stop committing all the crimes.
Right. I don’t care to hear Kal Penn’s thoughts on racism after he said he supports racial profiling and stop and frisk because he got mugged once.
That’s all ridiculous, but if you ever saw him in Van Wilder, apparently it didn’t bother him for that one. That one was an over the top stereotype.
I care, but then I remember that time Kal Penn said racism against black people wasn’t real, and we (black people) needed to get over ourselves.
Isn’t his role in Van Wilder (which was pretty much his first major role in a major movie, I think) exactly this shitty and offensive? His name in it is fucking “Taj Mahal Badalandabad.”
Soooo..this was the first draft of the Big Bang Theory?
Go even further back and there’s a real issue, imho, with beginning from a position of exclusion and specificity instead of grasping the first chance since the depression we really had to engage in an actual, working-class general strike.
This kind of bullshit in-fighting is precisely why the conservatives — who, despite all their faults, are ace at holding their noses in the interest of presenting a solid front to their opponents and attaining their goals— manage to get so much fuckery done while the liberals argue about everything under the sun.
All due respect, I thin conflating the Women’s Strike to anything in the Civil Rights Movement is foolhardy. One thing that has always struck me about the civil rights movement was how damn ORGANIZED they were (and that just emphasizes how unorganized the current “resistance” is). The Montgomery Bus Boycott worked…
A lot of the privilege criticism about the strike seemed to be a race to be the wokest of them all.
She challenged Remy to respond in 72 hours when it took her three weeks, ad she couldn’t even do it alone? I see...
I agree. Ma shouldn’t have released that second track but it doesn’t matter, she destroyed Nicki. To me, the stuff about ghostwriters and how Nicki can’t be the queen of rap when she doesn’t even write her own rhymes hit the hardest and you know what? The fact that Nicki didn’t respond immediately attests to the truth…
Hope she paid her ghostwriters well for this, because that was weak.
This. There’s a streak of racism (and a touch of classism) in the casting of Black Brits who go to RADA over a Black kid from Rutgers drama school or who jumped from soap operas to films. To those bigoted white execs, Black Brits don’t sound “Black” and are seen as “classier” than us (even if they grew up in the worst…
Yeah how weird is it they all clapped for him? Like, since when has he done anything but ride his brother’s coattails?
Nah, I think she was legit tired and closed her eyes. I also think she’s a thirst bucket who would do something like that hoping someone would notice.
I agree with Samuel Jackson! What’s the deal with so many Black-brits playing the roles of African-American historical figures? Is the talent among Black Americans that lacking? I think Hollywood bigwigs feel less threatened by Afro-Brits, in that they are less burdened by the sting of the Black American experience.…
The Handmaid’s Tale is required reading (I’d also strongly recommend The Edible Woman and the Robber Bride) but man, Margaret Atwood has been the epitome of ‘yr fav is problematic’ lately.
She’s much better at being Trump than Trump, though. Shit, I might vote for her.
