What’s exhausting is constantly experiencing the casual racism of white people. What’s exhausting is living in a white supremacist culture. That is way more exhausting than the inconvenience of being called on bullshit. And POC don’t have the time or energy to be nice about it.
Beyoncé uses the autonomy of silence. Her art speaks for itself. As a woman if color this can be a powerful tool. And a right. She is choosing her silence and deciding what her message is when she wants to say it. On her own terms.
What is vital is that we shut down casual racism when we see it. For me as a person of color that is vital.
