That would be true if the debate was a game or an educational activity designed to help the participants develop communication skills, like the high school or college debate activities I was involved in for years. In those debates, it is important for the judge or moderator not to intervene when one side says

Do they like sports? A debate is no different. Two teams or two athletes play each other. Each team or athlete has an offense and a defense. The same for debaters. Their offense is their own views. Their defense is responding to their opponents’ views.

If one candidate says X is true and the other one says X is false, it’s the moderator’s job to say what the objectively verifiable facts are, when readily available. Otherwise, they’re letting one get away with a lying to the people who don’t know the difference, and that’s failing the audience.

Say to them, “That is bullshit, and you know it, and I’m not going to engage with bullshit.”

Or a significant other, a friend, another relative? Nobody did a wellness check on this blind woman?

How terribly sad to not have *anyone* miss you. Not a friend or sibling or co-worker. Not even your own mother who thought you moved out and then didn’t worry that you never ever called.

If only there was a company that would broadly cast such events for free to the nation via our television sets. We could call it National Broadcasting Company.

Incorrect! Eggs are parve (neither meat nor dairy), meaning they can be served with either meat or dairy. Some traditions don’t mix meat with fish (though fish is also parve), but that’s neither here not there really.

When is the last time you saw any one but a muslim holding a severed human head?

Well... there goes the hope that it wasn’t attached to some ethnic or religious individual who will be used as a poster child to increase paranoia and stupid prejudice/racism. I fully expect Herr Asshat to have another soundbyte soon rallying his peeps to his cause.

Not sure how in the loop you are with the whole thing, but the primary “Gawker” blog was shut down due to “legal reasons”, but the content/writers dispersed to the other Gawker Media blogs. Giz, Deadspin, and maybe Jez seem to have been hit the hardest.

Pisses me off to no end. As other commenters have pointed out, literally no one else in that shot is smiling. Even if her dad hadn’t just died, this is a disappointing article to say the least.

This, maybe?

*Julia should smile more

She’s just looking to the side. And no one around her is smiling either. So...?

how does your internet machine work?

The Olympics don’t need to cater to sports fans. Sports fans are going to watch anyway. The whole reason the Games are such a big deal is that people who don’t normally care about sports (AKA, the majority of potential viewers) get into them as well.

On the other hand, if the network restricts the usage to those with cable, they can’t turn around and blame people without cable for not watching. They did both.

it’s hilarious how they “blame” millennials.
