    Jason, I think you are forgetting about the cooling system that modern battery packs need. That will take up more space and weight and increase complexity.     I’d also suggest a magnetic compass. If GS and cell phones fail you, having a simple compass makes paper maps far more effective, especially at night.

    Exactly. I’m surprised they don’t just take the hot water and run it through an external radiator and bring down the temp slowly to avoid thermal shock. Honestly if the motor has been designed to work at those higher temps, there’s no reason to not bring the temp down slowly.

    I’m surprised they don’t run electric water pumps, which could vary pump speed based on cooling needs (from the water temp sensors), not engine RPM.

    These engines produced very little power, and therefore didn’t make much heat.  Radiators didn’t need much area or airflow to cool an engine of such modest output.

    I don’t know where you got the 16" or 26", I just said “shorten” the LC500. The 350z lost about 12" of wheelbase from the G35 sedan (112" to 100"), and it worked out pretty well. I don’t think the current sales slump of the 370z is due to a compromised chassis: I’d say it’s just age and a lack of meaningful updates
