Thanks for the advice. That one hadn't come up in my searches, so I'll definitely look into it. I appreciate the first-hand experience.

@ɹǝʌoɹ ǝБuɐɹʇs: I may have found one, here. Has anybody tried the Cherry G84-4700? It doesn't have the exact setup I want, but it is fully programmable. I'm not rich, but when it comes to human interface components, cost is no object. I can go without lunch for a week if I have to.

I don't mean to threadjack, but while we're on the subject of keyboards, may I ask a quick question of the experts?

Awesome pic, but when I'm home for the summer I can just look out the window. That picture was taken only a couple miles from my parents' house.

That's an interesting choice of straw man. I never said that the keyboard sucks because it looks pretty. It sucks because typing on it is a miserable experience for me. I don't know where you got the impression that I was basing my opinion on looks. I just don't understand the purpose of the island design. Maybe

You are right, but I am mainly a desktop user. I bought a laptop for when I wanted to use a computer from a non ergonomically-ideal position, like laying on the couch or in bed. Unfortunately, that means that any time I use my laptop, it's while in positions that are bad for my wrists.

Yeah, you're right. After 20 years of comfortably using laptop keyboards (thanks, Thinkpad), I should now need to adjust my behavior to "the best designed laptops around". My electronics exist to serve me, not vice versa. I refuse to quietly adapt my behavior to what Jonny Ive thinks looks pretty. It's not that

On my particular MBP, the edges of the little fillet in the picture I posted are sharp enough to draw blood if I were to scrape my wrist against them with a moderate amount of pressure. As it is, it gets very fatiguing having pointy aluminum corners digging into my wrists as I browse the web.

Has been since 2002.

The razor-sharp edges beneath the unibody MBP trackpad. They make the son of a bitch mighty uncomfortable to use. I bought mine just before moving away for school, but when I get back home to my toolbox, this piece of shit has a date with a metal file.

I got a chuckle from the humor in your post, but I think you missed my point. The species I mentioned are either domesticated animals (which I debated over mentioning) or what are called pest species. Mice, rats, pigeons, skunks, etc. are species that thrive in areas that are populated by humans. They don't really

"Things can keep on keeping on just fine if we all disappeared..."

They're politically incorrect. They cater to smokers, who are evil and should be banished from society, apparently.

Yep, that's what I meant. That's what I've heard from my Army buddies. I was never in the military, but I did learn to make a bed the other hard way: by managing hotels for five years.

Don't be jealous of the mighty KFI's 50kW.

Cool. I don't know much about good audio equipment, but I can certainly appreciate a nice pair of headphones.

What about when opposite words have the same meanings?

I know one host who doesn't pay anybody to call in to his show.
