Escape is (was) C1 platform AKA Focus AKA Focus RS. The RS used the GKN AWD system, which is also used on the Evoque. It’s no locked-transfer-case-and-diffs offroader, but it’s enough to sell a rugged image and the illusion of capability to suburbanites.
