What a stupid hill to die on. Particularly in the fact of overwhelming evidence that in any interaction between the police and civilians, being black means you’re more likely to end up in a situation where those trying to exonerate you from wrongdoing have to cross that thin blue line. You’re trying to make the

It can be, and is, about both.

“ I pinky swear your Honor, that the kid just ran into my patrol car at full speed...”

The book Jesus Land by Julia Scheeres is an amazing look inside one of these reform ‘school’ systems operating under the guise of religion. When I finished the book and looked at the online testimonials, I was shocked to see that a lot of these places are still operating.

I recently listened to a harrowing podcast about this type of school and the troubled teen industry called “The Lost Kids” by UCP Audio, I highly recommend it if you have the stomach for it

1. Gas won’t always be cheap

The point is that while it is big, it drives much smaller than you would think and turning radius is one of those measures to prove that.

“Ah yes, the ol’ anecdote. Definitely definitive.”

yeah, with one kid, midsize crossover was fine. With two, the minivan was the obvious choice. We can haul two kids, two adults no problem, we can also haul an extra adult or two without a problem, or two extra kids no problem. And still have room for stuff with all those people. Two kids and two adults in the

The Mazda5 was like the Dodge Journey of minivans. It was the cheapest on the market and it drove like it. Don’t get me wrong, I like mine, but I know what it is, the cheapest mini van I could afford at the time. Best part about it was I was able to sell my STi at the time and buy a very low milage mazda5, and with

You’re my doppelgänger. Even the seats and carpet cleaned up easily. Spouse just did no want to be seen driving a van and we moved to a Highlander. Much less room and harder to drive in a City.

Vans have way more usable space inside than SUV.  Sienna vs Highlander is no contest but vans have the “soccer mom” stigma.  For family vacation travel vans are best thing.

Agreed. I’m surprised he didn’t segue into how Korean cars are craaaap.

There’s not really a good reason to get in an argument with CMTNDRVR. They basically specialize in commenting on almost every Jalopnik article with a contrarian comment designed to draw people into arguing.

“Do you think most minivans are different and sell mostly in base spec?”

Actually, a good chunk of minivans I see on road are the base models.

we had a 2005 Toyota Sienna and that thing was bulletproof.  Put 100k miles on it and it stood up to any kid abuse and still looked and drove like new when it was sold. We took care of it of course but there wasnt a creak or rattle in that thing after 100k miles and we did nothing other than scheduled maint.

Believe me even when you have two kids you are better off with a minivan. you eventually drive grandparents around with you and the minivan is the only option where they can actually get in the back seats. When you take that road trip to the beach or travel for christmas and thanksgiving you need all that cargo space.

Minivans are way more capable than crossovers and when you are at that stage in your life you will be thankful you have one. Minivan ownership is like the guy who is balding and decides to just shave his head because he has accepted his lot in life and doesnt care what others think. Crossovers owners are like the dude

I recently rented a current AWD Toyota Sienna and AWD RAV4. The Sienna drove better, had nicer materials and engine nvh was in a different class. The turning circle was pretty much the same as well. A base Sienna is definitely more expensive than a base RAV4 but I rarely see base spec’d out CUVs.  If I had two or more

As a child I watched Shelley Duvall’s Fairy Tale Theater every day after school. I’m from Houston and because everyone in the south knows each other somehow, my grandfather got me her autograph for my birthday one year.
