But May also does know how to drive. I’ve seen him flog a car around a track very well in other shows. The “Captain Slow” act is just that, an act.

I think the bigger issue with moving the show forward was that they were never able to slowly transition in new hosts, as what you’d want to do. Instead, we got the abrupt end thanks to Clarkson being a bit fighty.

May has always been a nerd - it’s the kind of thing that they bring up constantly throughout TG and GT.  Hammond, while he’s nerdy about engineering is more a presenter than an actual nerd and it shows.  His bit in the Great Escape was just.. bleh (Nevermind that that series tried to capture the greatness of

I’ve noticed that other comedians, who pretty much always come to the defense of their peers (unless they have done something truly awful), have nothing to say about Carolla.

Require high speed licenses and extensive driving experience with any future hosts. My suggestion: Rowan Atkinson (channeling Black adder). He’s got serious experience with vintage car racing. Keep Chris Harris. He was keeping the show afloat and knows what he’s doing.

But yet Jimmy Kimmel has moved past The Man Show without any damaging baggage.

And it took me several seasons to realize that they’re playing roles.  They’re not exactly like that.  It’s easily argued that Clarkson is not much different than he is on TG/GT, but May really is a gear head and much smarter than he plays on TG/GT, and much the same could be said about Hammond.  I’m basing that upon

Adam Carolla is in my same list as Jay Leno.

Truth be told, you’re pretty much right. We all gave him more of a pass back then. He was an asshole- a complete, total fucking asshole, but a really funny one (kinda just like Clarkson). In the intervening years he’s just been afforded a lot more time to say a mountain of stupid shit.

Honestly TGUSA was so underrated. I think the biggest problem was people setting unrealistic expectations using TGUK as the benchmark.

I was never a fan. I think Clarkson is a huge asshole.

Clarkson, Hammond, and May definitely made the show, but Top Gear was first and foremost a show about cars.  That’s what I think was missing about Top Gear USA.  All they did were challenges.  And bickering.

Aside from the one (two maybe?) seasons after Clarkson, Hammond, and May left, I thoroughly enjoyed watching all seasons. Absolutely hated Chris Evans and didn’t care for the old guy or Rory Reid in anything they did through that, since it was all literally riding on the coattails of the old guys. Seriously they would

I quite enjoyed a few of the non-CHM episodes, but a lot of the personality pigeonholing (such as predictably and aggressively cutting Chris Harris off at the legs in every competitive scenario) became too much of an ongoing gag that just wasn’t funny. The Hammond jokes worked because they’d make them, but then ease

Nothing groundbreaking. Looks good though. Hyundai really has stepped up their design, but I wonder how their engineering is doing. I still can't trust their drivetrains.

We had porches on cars, they were called “tailgates”. Bring back a split tailgate that can drop down and give us a place to sit.

This looks awesome. Bring back boxy. All that’s missing is a plug-in hybrid option.

It’s not the figuring out, they know how. The problem is, they had signed a deal with their OEM navigation supplier Tom-Tom to have vehicles equipped with navigation be restricted to corded smartphone mirroring to try and encourage owners to use the baked in nav.

Am I missing an /s? The driver shouldn’t be reclining with a leg rest, they should be driving.

with leg rest for the first row that allows the driver to recline and relax”
