Yes, he drank his own pee. Next question!

Costner is great in Eastwood's A Perfect World, and very good in both Tin Cup and Bull Durham.

Would you ask Tom Petty to play with himself?

Hot Take Time:

Eh, don't agree that Batman is a blank slate character, even if he's invariably less interesting than the villains.

I hated Batman Forever so much that I skipped Batman and Robin. Still haven't seen it and don't have any plans to…

I always think of the scene where Walken pushes Pfeiffer out the window as exemplary of the careful balance of tones in that movie. It's funny, and weird, until it's suddenly scary and violent.

The truck carrying him crashed into a truck full of genetic material, which then fused his body to the snow on the ground.

Val Kilmer does not give a strong performance in this movie - you're just young and are being overly kind to it due to nostalgia.

Batman Returns has villains that get the balance between menace and camp just right. DeVito, Pfeiffer, and Walken are such a blast in that movie.

I don't always love his movies (including La La Land, which is crazily overrated) but I think Gosling has considerable charisma.

I'm not that angry about it, honestly, just annoyed that more people aren't talking about it and/or share my opinion. I'm always bothered by this stuff but here it felt especially egregious because a) it was a very beloved character, and b) it was the last shot of the movie.

Advance word was that he's actually not bad in this. Not sure how that's possible…

Has he been in a good movie since Carlos? He keeps popping up in stuff but nothing that seems worthy of his talents.

True!

I found them insufferable in Before Sunrise, which I think is sort of the point, and then grew fond of them over the next two films.

I see your point, though having a poet at the center of a movie, regardless of his day job, does seem unusual in today's movie climate. What I don't get is the need to forewarn anyone interested in a Jarmusch movie about this. It's as if there's an assumption that Kylo Ren fans will show up to this and be disappointed

With the exception of It Follows, fully agreed on these.

That would be an excellent bait-and-switch.

You guys like to give Dowd a lot of shit for his grades, but this is a really good piece of writing. Granted, I'm super-excited for this film but, regardless, this is a lovely review.
