I was rewatching old Gilmore Girls episodes this weekend and they had a couple "place anachronisms" in regards to NYC, where they claimed something was somewhere other than its actual location.
The locations for Transparent are all in LA, or nearby.
Do they revolt before or after requesting the love that they need, too?
This show is filled with numerous, aggravating anachronisms. I think one episode had a character say "let's get lit" or something to that effect.

I can't argue with that - I'd put Americans right behind this, personally. I have some issues with how they've handled the Paige thing, but otherwise that show is pretty perfect.

Well, in regards to that comment about showing rape from the victim's POV, there's a harrowing sequence that adopts POV shots in Lilya 4-Ever that at least tries to convey the horror of the act. The camera is essentially bludgeoning the heroine, and it's extremely upsetting to watch.
These are all solid but my personal favorite is the one for The Handmaiden. The rhythm of the cuts is hypnotic, aided by how everything we see in each shot is so gorgeously rendered. Every time I saw that trailer this year I got more and more excited to see the movie, and when I finally did, it did not disappoint.
As a refutation of the "no jokes" DC Universe approach, I can see it maybe had some appeal for people.
I'm not really concerned with a payoff for something bigger - I really do think this is about its characters more than the larger mystery, or more specifically, how people deal with grief in the aftermath of tremendous loss rather than the reasons for that loss.
