It's pretty repellent, and beyond that, wildly uneven from scene to scene.

The butter, definitely.

And the design is great too - it's a gorgeous movie, but inept in almost every other area. I was shocked by how strongly I disliked it.

The true origins of this ornament can be found in the blu-ray extras for Fury Road. Most people don't know that when George Miller first conceived of Immortan Joe back in the early 90s, he wanted to cast Jim Kelly in the role.

I thought the animation was serviceable, though they didn't really embrace the match cuts that the comic uses - weird for a film to ignore the key filmic device of its source material.

Agreed on this, which is why it's frustrating to keep hearing what a terrible year it is for movies. I've seen about 20-25 movies that I really liked-to-loved this year, and a handful that are as good as the best films of the last few years.

I thought High Rise was close to unwatchable. And I mostly like everything else Wheatley has made. It was a series of endless montages of the same idea, one after another.

All fair points, though I was disappointed that they didn't give Herzog more to do as the villain.

I first listened to Ok Computer the week it came out at one of those old listening stations they used to have at Tower Records. I remember at the end of Airbag realizing that I was both buying the album that day and also not leaving the listening station until I had finished the album.

I thought something similar about the first Jack Reacher that so many people liked. It was like an above-average episode of Spenser for Hire.

Worst thing I watched all year was probably the adaptation of The Killing Joke. Absolutely vile. I also disliked Equals and Carnage Park.

LOVED The Wailing. Such a fantastic movie.

I didn't see it but it was generally well-reviewed, and my horror fan friends who saw it thought it was pretty good. All the stretchy mouth CGI stuff in the trailer was a turn-off for me so I'm waiting to catch up with it at home.

I think RTJ 2 refutes the idea that the project is fully over-the-top, even if it's still not as overtly socially conscious as Killer Mike's "solo" work.

Will do.

And great. But yeah, mostly devastating.

Internalized, expressionist biopic is the best kind of biopic! Or maybe it's kaleidoscopic postmodern biopic!

Hush is so damn good. I didn't love Oculus but Flanagan clearly knows how to make an effective horror film.

With ad block stuff on and just seeing the articles, links, and comments, this place is significantly better. Not the best, and not even close to as pretty as The Dissolve (RIP), but pretty good.

I should not have bet on Lars Von Trier for this.
