Yeah, I know there's some commenter overlap, and long has been, but as a relative old timer here, I don't want to see a sudden mass influx. I left this place due to growing pains once before and generally hope it never gets TOO big. I think we police ourselves enough to help that, though, so maybe I'm being alarmist.

Good question. I haven't looked into it but I assumed Facebook was fairly profitable. That said, I doubt any of them are profitable on the level of traditional major companies of comparable cultural cachet, like Google, Amazon, Appleā€¦

True, but the divide is greater than for most other social media platforms. They are absurdly unprofitable in relation to their number of users.

I'm more concerned about the influx of their commenters. I don't think they have any writers, in regards to stuff I care about, that could legitimately replace the ones I like here.

Rocky III, wherein we were almost faced with President Thunderlips.

Was Benson also in Blade Runner as a kid?

Tender Greens is great.

Funny, I don't really consider the Arclight to be in Hollywood, even though it totally is and that Walgreens across from it is the meth epicenter. Maybe because there are no tourists and it's a bit further east from Hollywood proper.

It's really awful. I avoid it as much as possible.

I only ever go there to see stuff at the Egyptian, and then as soon as the film is over, I get the hell out as fast as I can.

Do people who've never been to LA think Hollywood is somehow glamorous?

(crying)

Technically, there's an even earlier adaptation from 1907, but it's a 15-minute short.

Eh, it's B action on an A budget which is I.V.'s wheelhouse so mind the grain of salt.

Yes they are. I live in LA and had no idea this was coming out this weekend. Maybe all the ads were targeted solely to Christian groups?

Coraline made really great use of 3D.

Glad to hear this is as gorgeous as it looks. Laika has supplanted Pixar as the animation studio whose films I look forward to the most.

Let me try to preempt the infighting with a harmless joke:

I'm not big on either, and not a big fan of the movies, which are uneven (I only like Ferrel occasionally). Never even seen Talladega Nights.

John C. Reilly: comedic acting's greatest gain of the last decade.
