Not only did he dive the plane 400 feet, he dove it to within 600 feet of an oncoming US military transport! I don't understand why the media isn't mentioning that part, it's in the TSB report.

Very half-assed map. There are thousands more locations than those shown. Do these Mother Jones people have access to Google or Wikipedia?

Dear Gizmodo, All Internet connections have IP addresses. That's how the Internet works. IP addresses are like phone numbers. When someone tries to hack you, their "Caller ID" is visible. If you see a hack attempt on your server from a Chinese IP address then that attack has traveled thru China on its way to you.

It's only two-nines pure? (99.99%)?!?

A small percentage of the biggest company in the world is MORE DOLLARS than a bigger percentage of lesser companies. It's basic math, giz.

When you build a network that has single points of failure, poor redundancy and broken fail-overs this is what happens. My iPhone is working fine.

If this was a real Groupon (™) then there shouldn't be any problem. Every Groupon issue I have had was resolved with a single phone call. Of course a refund isn't much help if you are stranded in Sin City.

How can you write about a NAS showdown without mentioning FreeNAS [www.freenas.org] ?

Google just bought what they need to manufacture their own Android phones, and they bought the company that makes all the cable and satellite set-top boxes.

Yes, yes - very dramatic Giz. Unfortunately your graphic shows _historical_ data. The realtime map is here: [earthquake.usgs.gov] and ONLY shows two events in the last hour (red) and a few smaller ones in the last day (blue).

Yes, this will be a great purchase because Sony treats its customers and their information so well. This camera assuredly won't come with software that installs a root kit on you computer or needs to phone home every time you try to use it.

I wish that restaurants with flash-only websites would realize that many of us look up restaurants with our iPhones. Flash only = no sale!

What makes Phantom cameras ideal for Shark Week is that you can set them to capture continuously while waiting for the shark to jump, and then 'trigger' the camera to save the last 10,000 frames after you see something cool. It's like a camera with a built-in time machine.

Does it have to do with rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic?

Doesn't apply to the 3Ds, but you can stream 3D simply by using a normal HD signal with the right eye and left eye shown in a split screen. Technically if you can stream HD, you can already stream 3D. It would not be much of an achievement for Netflix to offer some 3D titles for home viewers as well.

Great idea, but I wish it was done by artists rather than scientists. I'm sure NASA's muddy pictures will show whatever is falling off and making the shuttle explode, but why even bother publishing B+W photos that have no true blacks or pure whites? They look like crap. Maybe they could send the raw files to someone

I you have a choice, try to go to RealD theatres for 3D. They use better polarizers that tend to give a brighter image with better 3D effects and less ghosting.

U.S. only. Meh.

I love that they used blue LEDs just because they could.

Perfect!
