May I point out that getting rid of the NRA is not the same as getting rid of the Second Amendment? We had the 2A a long time before the NRA, AND the NRA was just a gun-hobbyist club a long time before it was politically active.

“It is what it is” is also a convenient tool for conservatives to ignore any kind of moral or philosophical debate, even when defending something awful. They just say those 5 words, and *poof*, anything from segregation to unfair parking ticket fines suddenly exists in a vacuum. No need to discuss how or why it came…
