I actually totally understand hiding the fact that it’s a two-part thing. People are put off by it and will simply wait for the second one to come out so they can see both. You can see by the big outrage of people after Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse ended on a cliffhanger, or the underperforming sales of Mission

I’m not your google, buddy. You do the work if you actually care about being honest and not just concerned with being afraid of teh gays.

(theatre school nerd here) Into The Woods is actually a longer stage show than Wicked. Yet that was one film.

I mean, it’s a proven fact that some people just don’t like musicals, so the point of hiding it is to, ideally, trick those potential viewers into paying for a ticket for a movie genre they don’t really enjoy that much.

I genuinely feel like I just watched the movie now.

Who is all this secrecy for? Most people who are going to see Wicked already know it’s a musical. The rest of its potential audience are people who are going to see it because it’s a prequel to The Wizard of Oz....which was ALSO a musical.

Recent increases in the fragility of masculinity making men even more afraid of musicals?

This is, by far, the most honest review of the movie I’ve seen, even if it isn’t kind.  Even the kind reviews have not been good.

What’s up with musicals being embarrassed to be musicals?

Nobody’s banning anyone. Those with bigoted opinions, as ignorant as they are, are welcome to have  them, just as they’re welcome to not watch the show.

If only perfect people are allowed to watch your show your show

This is very misleading. Overnights for BBC were down, because it was up against Eurovision. Streaming however, has been an entirely different animal. But way to pick and choose.  And frankly, ‘woke’ Doctor Who (which, c’mon, has always been ‘woke’) has been extremely popular with fans. Hell, my wife actually stayed

I really enjoyed the first season. Had a very slow-burn, almost Twin Peaks, vibe. I hope they dive headlong into the weirdness for the second season.

I have read differently. I have read that Doctor Who viewership on Disney+ is good.

Got any actual data on that?

I’d like to see more musicals get the Hamilton treatment: just film the stage show. No need to moviefy it.  Give some thought to the camerawork to keep it from being static, but just let the stage players do their thing.

I worked on a set with lots of nudity once (why am I being cagey it was Westworld) and when the naked people weren’t filming they were in bathrobes. It was really weird to see people in robes everywhere, and then during the nude time try to just make eye contact and not look anywhere else. Those were also long days -

All of that is well and good but there’s still absolutely no good reason why this should’ve been a two parter.

The amount the zombified corpse of The AV Club speculates and tries to make connections to things to make everything sound more sinister is getting fucking terrible. The author seems to want so, so bad to reveal that George Miller is a creep despite there being no evidence for it.

While some on Twitter/X speculated that Taylor-Joy could be hinting that director George Miller was creepy or inappropriate in some way, she was very effusive toward him in the interview.
