Despite all his posturing, Roy Moore has vacated his lawsuits against his accusers (I have a google newsfeed watch on this case). The accusers’ suits against him for defamation have not been cancelled, despite his apparent assumption that they would be automatically when he dropped his.

In my opinion and experience, Texas really is more racist. I think what makes it worse is that Texas actively runs a campaign of disinformation (claiming the war with mexico was about freedom) and downplaying its role in the Confederacy.

What really gets me about this is that a SCOTUS appointment is for life. The only way to remove one is by impeachment and that’s only been tried exactly once (1805) and it failed. This isn’t some dumbass Representative you can vote out in two years.

Of all the places I’ve traveled to, none have ever struck me as being as racist as Texas. The level of segregation in housing, basic commerce like grocery stores, and services (like restaurants) is simply incredible.

Here in Alaska racism towards natives is endemic. Services for homeless/alcoholic/street people is not a concern until white faces appear in the stories.

I don’t think it’s acknowledged clearly enough in the story that virtually all mcdonald’s stores are owned by independent franchisers, not the national company.
