I would agree with all this and also suggest: if you don’t want a friend with you, maybe one of the staff nurses can stand with you and hold your hand? I’ve had wonderful support from both my doctor’s nurses and my dentist’s nurses (severe dental anxiety here) when I’ve had to have stressful procedures
