I believe the CoS would do this, absolutely.

Yes, I believe the victims. The open letter actively makes me believe them more given how full of victim-blaming and fallacies it is.

I don’t have any problem with believing it either but the thing is:

I tend to agree.

Even in that full three paragraphs they don’t actually deny the actual allegations, which are of rape.

Doing the accusers a disservice. COS is beyond capable of some shit but I’m not going for this.

Yeah it’s a hard one because either side could be shitty but in the right.

Anyone heard of Scientologists actually doing this as a smear before though? I know they’ve used general tactics of labeling them malcontents, using family members still in the cult to shame them publicly, and have attacked their credibility so I can see this would be something they’d at least theoretically do...

Jamie Lee wrote an article on HuffPo in support of her noting that she confided in her a couple years ago (which suggests she didn’t know before then).

Jesus fucking Christ that article. I just came back from reading those comments right now. People don’t get consent AT ALL. Men are so hyperdefensive because you know some of them do exactly what aziz did and haven’t thought twice about it.

Accusations reported at the time by Eliza’s on-set independent guardian, who stated TPTB did nothing after there were reported, and that adults on the set knew what was hapening but ignored it. I really hope Jamie Lee wasn’t one of those adults. Eliza has stated she was too afraid to tell her parents the entire truth

Beware if you wade into the comments on the AV Club entry: it’s filled with a terrifying amount of denial, misogyny, and victim-blaming. I almost had a rage stroke last night.

...but that had he known there would have been “no mercy,” adding, “I have daughters.”

Modern satanist here. Sexual assault is profoundly unsatanic, as it is the worst possible violation of one’s sexual freedom - something Satanists value enormously.

Because the point they’re making is precisely how religious privilege is allowed to contravene civil rights in the USA.

Wait, so... Someone said burn the Satanic Temple, the co-founder said hey don’t, and Twitter banned the co-founder?

And yet Cheeto Satan can still tweet all he wants. Cool, Twitter.

They aren’t really “trolls”, are they? They are fighting against people using religious freedom laws to discriminate against people and create a theocracy. I think of a troll as someone who doesn’t actually have a point of view or care about an issue, but just tries to get people riled up for their own amusement.

Can Twitter go the fuck away yet? It’s starting to seem a twee bit gauche.

Twitter represents the worst of the Internet and of humanity. I’m 100% done with twitter and deleted my account.
