All these sites cycle through writers constantly because the pay is shit and anyone who can leverage it into more respectable journalism/writing employment quickly does. But the mass resignations and firings are a different beast. “Stick to Sports” writ large.

There’s something weird going on at Lifehacker, too. They now have a writer posting daily listicles about movies, for some unknown reason. Laying the groundwork for an AV Club replacement?

I usually check the profile URL to be sure. If it’s “dremiliolizardo” spelled exactly that way with no additions/embellishments, they’re the real deal. Sucks mightily to be targeted in that way.

For starters, Javier Bardem is not Latino…

I’ve got a Vietnamese coffee press kicking around in my cupboard somewhere, but to me it is meant for one thing and that is chicory coffee brewed over a glass of sweetened condensed milk (with ice on standby).

something, something, taxation without representation, something, something.

Criminal Intent did Annabella Sciorra dirty, IMO. God forbid the female detective paired with Noth is the smarter, more mature of the two. Better ditch her for an ingénue (or two).

Thanks! I’ll play around with it some more. I kept going coarser on the grind to prevent sludge (which I thought was coffee getting through the filter, not coming out the top). That made the coffee weaker, so I’d pack in extra. Sounds like I was worsening the matter, not helping. I’ll try a finer ground with less in.

Isn’t that an adaptation of Emma?

The one on popsicles says “after sealing the hole” but doesn’t specify how. (Maybe it does on the provided link, but I’m too lazy to click through.)

While not accepted at all centers, the plastic in K-cups is #5 and is now recyclable (since 2020, according to Keurig’s website). I have a special cutter that I use to separate mine for recycling.

Oh, is that why Lifehacker has started posting so much movie stuff recently? “The Best 30 [Fill-in-the-Blank] Movies of All Time” and whatnot? I was very confused how such content is supposed to help me to optimize my life…

I greatly appreciated that intermission—I was in an older, cramped arthouse theater with awful seats and even with a designated pee break I will never forgive the man (either Branagh or Shakespeare) for the length of that thing. I suppose it could be worse, I could have been at The Globe, standing.

I’m an odd duck and will take Zeffirelli’s Hamlet over Branagh’s any day.

Lately I’ve been using masa harina rather than cornmeal to dust for pizza and English muffins, so that can substitute as well should you have one and not the other.

The main complaint I can think of is that is has a white dude “inspiring” Chuck Berry. Not great, for sure, but I wouldn’t think it condemns the whole thing. (It would marr its “perfection,” though.)

Galaxy Quest.

Lionel Richie’s album Can’t Slow Down was the first cassette I remember being OBSESSED with as a child. I was five. I’d drag our portable player into the hall closet with a blanket, book and flashlight and listen to it for hours on end. So I definitely have a soft spot for his music. Congrats to him!

Per the update at the top of the Ikea hack page, the rattan chest used for it was discontinued in 2018.
