all these bikes are imported from contract factories by a couple really large companies with not-shit bikes in their portfolio, so ultimately a failure could find a legally responsible party: that said most failures likely are of the slow variety rather than the losing teeth variety.

Last kids bike I bought for $175 and sold for... $175. 

two kinds of bike shops: 1) Sports equipment for bougie fucks and 2) commuter/messenger shops. Category 2) makes as much money as 1) because labor and parts are profitable.

Trust me, I am very familiar with the market. The minimally acceptable hybrid bikes cost around $5-600 new. Used bikes are in the zone below that, and if you’re Joe Public who graduated to cars when they were 16 and haven’t had a bike since used bikes are a real crap shoot.

I’ve been buying and selling $300 kids’ bikes for my kids. Aside from the initial investment, they sell for maybe $50 less than I’ve paid, and often the same, and with a minimum of maintenance they are in the same condition as before, unlike some piece of shit from wal-target-kroger-dicks.
