Quite simply, we’re long past the point of being able to reverse the decline of unions, and it’s not even what the working class needs to be worried about anymore. We are FAST approaching the point at which we need to already have a specific plan ready to go for something like universal basic incomes as automation

I too became scared of wheelchairs after watching what happened in the heartbreaking documentary “Batman V. Superman”.

I think you’re on the money. I’ve recently gotten rid of my social media accounts (best thing ever!) and I think it’s also becoming apparent that it’s time to stop reading this fine Haim Saban venture and the comments section because I don’t think it helps to create any constructive dialogue and action, it just serves

Exactly. He was the last. Tons of civilizations claim they were the first to find the New World—the Irish, the Chinese, even the ancient Egyptians. But after Columbus, no one else “discovered” the Americas because when he found it, the whole world learned of its existence. That’s why Columbus is important.

MLBPA has been easily the most powerful union in the country thanks mostly to Marvin Miller who should be in the HOF. Although even they have done a good job fucking themselves under Tony Clark as Jeff Pasan points out:

I think he’s just coasting now and that spells trouble for you, Splinter News. I mean the whole chart about workers’ wages not keeping up with productivity thing from EPI? That was already around in 2005 when I was just starting my MA in economics. How’s this still a fresh news item today? Or the parabolic

Oh, so you’re saying that Democrats really don’t have any power, yet somehow you still said they sold out DACA recipients?

But as workers move more towards the service industry, does it make sense for them to unionize?

I truly don’t follow. As best as I can tell, these classes happened *after* Franco was busted for trying to lure a known underage girl to his hotel room. Similarly, if Spacey had been offering sex scene training to young male actors at the same time, even though his offenses were still mostly hearsay, I would have

Many unions were or still are rotten to the core and many have themselves to blame for their decline. This is absolutely in addition to all of the outside forces that have been eroding union and worker rights for 40+ years, but it would be nice to see some unions take a little bit of responsibility for how crooked

One can also argue that framing every issue in terms of race instead of class has created that divide between traditional white Union workers and POC.

Power is not built by shaking down Hollywood millionaire donors for money to run campaign ads.

I’m not trolling and did not know that detail. I’m just saying that the James Franco Master Thespian Academy for Training in the Art of Cinematic Coitus Performance seems like a setup for exploitation from the get go.

No it’s of course not a “green light” for exploitation, but, to me, the very mise en scene screams out exploitation, no? - “James Franco has invented an acting school and is teaching sex scenes.” Not blaming, judging or criticizing these individuals. Just commenting on what a setup it seemed like in the first place.

A suggestion for a future post: we already know about the decline of unions, so how exactly do we get unions to become viable and vibrant again instead of listening to union guys grumble about how their union does nothing for them at the RiteAid checkout line? Be prescriptive as possible, go out and organize is an

Did you throw a fit at Christmas when you didn’t get EVERYTHING you wanted?

Taking a class called “sex scenes” by master thespian James Franco strikes me as just maybe possibly a tiny bit like someone choosing to strip (at a conventional establishment) then asking the owner for an apology because he/she felt exploited. Which is not to say he/she was not legimitately exploited, but just, well
