Between Screaming Females and Turnstile’s new one that drops the same day, I think I’m going to have a very good month.

“Karen black; what an obscure reference.”
My parents were cool and never really kept anything from me, plus I was with it and knew not to push anything too seamy or super violent with them around. The only thing I really remember not being allowed to watch was the exorcism they had on 20/20 back in 1991. At the time I didn’t get why my Dad didn’t allow me to…
Yeah... I used to be a lot more snarky towards Heche too, but many years and one relationship with someone sexually abused by family have made me much more understanding of the way trauma can leave a big impact on a person’s mental well being.
Behold what modern conservatism has become: rank hucksterism and symbol worship. Bet this will turn out about as well as those crowdfunded Atlas Shrugged movies.
Getting myself hyped for Turnstile’s soon-to-drop album:
Say what you will about the Costco experience, the Kirkland Signature t-shirts and polos they sell are top notch. No joke, they are among the most durable, longest lasting shirts I’ve ever owned.
Oh, I haven’t forgotten the Culture books! I’ve read them all and some deep digging in the post archives at io9 will even reveal some Culture fan-fic I wrote. But seeing how Banks passed away a few years ago, it does seem like Robinson* is the only utopian left standing.
Aurora’s message wasn’t “shouldn’t.” It was:
Damn. The term “literary titan” cannot be applied any better than to her. Indisputably one of the greatest, most influential SF/Fantasy authors of all time. I’ve read quite a few of her works and count The Dispossessed as one of my favorite novels.
Wiggity-wah guitar solos vs. blusey fuckin’-riffs.
Eh, it happens. KSR is my favorite author and I think he’s been hitting at a high batting average this past decade, but Shaman was just kinda “there” for me, even though by all rights it should have been right up my alley given its subject. New York 2140, meanwhile, I’m gobbling up greedily. It’s not always easy math…
Current reading: New York 2140 by Kim Stanley Robinson. About 3/4 done with it. Another big, intricate world for KSR, this time a post sea-level rise New York City. The book follows a number of characters who all live in the Met Life Tower, which is now a housing co-op in a Venice-Like Manhattan. As usual with KSR,…
Take all the time you need. I totally hear you about an IPad sucking to type on.
Exacrly. Lots of people knew/had business relationships with/had their picture taken with Weinstein. That doesn’t ipso-facto mean that they knew he was a rapist. That was a cheap shot on Seal’s part.
Yes, it is. I’m a fan of Guinness, but I prefer Murphy’s and drink it down when I get get it. Most BexMo’s will stock it or be able to order it if you’re curious.
“You come at the Queen, you best not miss.”
You crossed Oprah, dude. Big mistake...
Someone obviously has not yet felt the power of Party (and has a stuck caps lock key to boot).
