SEE YOU IN HELL, CANDY BOYS!

Thanks! Been meaning to start a music blog for a couple of years now. Just haven’t managed to get off my duff and just do it.

Really? Hadn’t heard this. I will definitely have to investigate. I’m constitutionally biased towards believing Balk... mostly because she was goth crush bait for me when I was in high school. ;-)

Visions of a Life hasn’t landed quite as square for me as My Love is Cool did, but given MLiC is one of my top ten, maybe even top five, albums of the decade, that’s hardly an indictment (I’m a 90's alt-rock person and MLiC is pretty much my definition of a perfect album). Visions of a Life is a subtler affair with a

There is definitely some sludginess to all their albums, but Purple’s is glaring. I followed my recent listen right up with Yellow and there are a noticeable difference. The shame is the Purple, production aside, might be equal to Blue and there’s an argument to be made that it surpasses it.

Oh! Forgot to mention that I’ve been listening to a fair amount of Baroness with listen throughs of Purple, Yellow, and Green. I think Purple is an especially good album song-wise, but man, the production kind of sucks. Sludgy, and not the good kind of sludgy. It speaks to the strength of the material that it doesn’t

Let’s see... I’ve jammed the new King Krule album, the new Wolf Alice album, the new Screaming Females single, went down a Cake hole (an old favorite I go back to), and threw on some Fats Domino yesterday with a Little Richard chaser.

IheartTurdFerguson, I will take your word that it is a true story. It is so truly epic that I don’t want to doubt it.

“If being delightful was a crime, you’d be breaking the law.”

Obligatory “you gotta watch the documentary Lost Soul” post.

I have a love for Kilmer as an actor, but he’s a legendary asshole on set (the documentary Lost Soul goes into detail about how bad he was on the set of Dr. Moreau). This revelation doesn’t surprise me at all.

Not all that unusual for Disney Channel...

Ah, “The Bet.” Such a good episode, and I have especially fond memories of my 8th grade science teacher using this episode as a “teachable moment” when we did Sex Ed.

Rock in Peace, Fats. If ever a man could lay down a boogie, it was you.

Agreed. She pulls it off well.

I’m 36 and I’m definitely thinking AIDS quite a bit during the scenes with gay characters. I find myself wondering which of them will make it to 1985.

But remember kids, this is America! We’re all equal under the law here and all our votes count the same! Anyone talking about economic disparities having tangible and pernicious effects in how power is distributed and wielded is just a pinko.

Not trying to start a fight here with anyone, but it’s probably not a coincidence that each of those countries you named is traditionally Catholic. The church has a long history of problematic views concerning women and sex.

And Italians elected Silvio Berlusconi. Your point?

Other terms include Generation Y and the Oregon Trail Generation. I recognized the little generation a while back before “Xennials” was coined, and own name for us was “cuspers” as we’re on the cusp of X and millennial.
