I’ve got plenty of issues with liberals, even as I am one, but on this there is no parity with conservatives. Loudly proclaiming “shut up and quit rocking the boat,” then proceeding to bitch on and on about people rocking the boat is, almost by temperamental definition, a conservative trait.

Those adherents aren’t socialists only because of the cultural associations with “mamby-pamby” liberals, not because of any real political or economic ideology. If straight communism was the maniliest socio-economic system in our culture’s eyes, they’d be waving red books and hanging posters of Mao in the basements…

Yeah, I love how they’re just being bold truth-tellers when they complain. It’s even funnier/sadder when you realize that their definition of being a bold truth teller is being an obnoxious asshole to people that are different.

Yep. For me, the movie and book were wake up calls that exploded my 18 year old brain and got me really thinking about what I was doing and what I wanted from life. But I while I completely absorbed Fight Club’s call to live a more authentic life, I never saw it as endorsing actually going cave man on women or society…

This one of my big problems with these guys (and a lot of modern conservatives to boot): Their beef is with people complaining, so what do they do? Complain. Loudly and aggressively and with little in the way of honest grievance.

I wish I could argue this, but there are some seriously garbage people in SU fandom. Not all of us, mind you, but still too many.
