I've discovered that the "it's a good idea on paper, but in real life…" qualifier I always heard used with communism growing up now applies just as well to libertarianism and current-phase capitalism.

Okay, Recess was pretty damn legit, though my mind doesn't file it in the Disney Afternoon bin as I didn't really discover it until my local station had it in morning reruns. Recess came on the air at a point when I wasn't even at home most afternoons in order to catch it (i.e. high school).
Bless my mom then, for she loves MST3K. She's got a Crow t-shirt somewhere, even.
*Eagerly awaiting movie sign*
However many it is, it still isn't near enough.
And how, pray tell, is bigotry to be opposed without being called out and shamed? Sorry, but the very things you are complaining about are exactly how civil society by definition SHOULD deal with bigoted opinions. When people are ashamed of their bigotry, that's when they change it.
Again, shaming isn't violating free speech. Take a civics class, please, Free speech protection means that the STATE cannot punish you for what you say. That doesn't mean other citizens don't have the right to tell you off for what you say. And that's true for left, right, and center.
Stop the false equivalency. Thinking that conservatives are wrong and telling them so impolitely isn't the same thing as racism, homophobia, xenophobia etc. And I say this as someone who definitely does not believe that being conservative=racist, homophobe etc. Conservatives have not at any point in U.S. history…
Well, you ARE a loose cannon who is too old for this shit, has something to prove, and nothing to lose.
SAy what you will, no one wants to miSS the inevitable Nazi puns.
Along with age, I think genetic predisposition to addiction is a big factor, along with just plain being sensible about what drugs you try. Some drugs (meth, for example) take a greater toll then others.
10/10 idea. Would watch.
Same here. I don't regret starting late, though I will say there was a crew of guys that I went to high school with that I never totally "got" the humor of until I started smoking. They made comedy tapes (video and audio) and while I laughed at them in high school, they only revealed their true brilliance when I…
Same here. I was in the homestretch of college when I thought, "Hey, I made it this far. Graduation is in sight… Screw it, go a head and have a toke. Not like I'll become a stoner or anything." While I indeed never became a stoner, pretty soon after my first time I was in, "Duuude, have you ever listened to Tool? I…
I'm an occasional smoker who grew up in a permissible environment, but as cool as my folks were with pot, one thing they really hammered into me was to not get into it young, just for the very reason your experience elucidates. I didn't get into it until I was 22, but a lot of people I know who hit it young (and hit…
Yeah, maybe things will still be cool, but still: https://www.youtube.com/wat…
B'WHAAAAAA???
One of the things I consider a universal constant is now gone. Fuck, man… is Polaris is still the northstar? Is up still up?
You know how to party. You and I should take a holiday in Cambodia sometime.
Eh, you can hang on to it. Everyone needs an upvote now and then.
Shaka, when the bong ripped.
