Back in college in the 90's I worked with Habitat for Humanity, and one thing we did was yard and house cleanout for older folks. I remember working this one guy’s house, and he is a WWII vet. In his basement at his work bench is a hand-drawn, color sketch of a mushroom cloud with a caption that reads “Made in

If he had put some effort into not getting caught, it would have been the ultimate long con. Nobody would have suspected him!

I was a huge Indycar fan in the 90's. Went to the ‘95 500, got Mario to sign a playing card and an Autoweek cover at a media event in a K-Mart! But, that Zanardi pass, as much as I love him, oof, it does not stand the test of time. Why not just cut every corner to pass people then? Also love how on that final lap they

While I personally exhibit left-lane discipline that would make a German blush, on late nights like this (so late where there is basically zero traffic), with roads with trees on the right and a median in the middle, I often cruise in the left lane to mitigate against deer, which here in PA, are a huge issue. John 12:49, Jesus drove a conventional ICE vehicle, ergo batteries = the devil’s fuel:

Government so small it fits in your bedroom AND your uterus.

And yet the State of Texas filed a lawsuit to have my State’s 2020 election results thrown out. I mean, they lost, but with this current Court, I don’t’ really have much hope anymore.

My wife has a GLC and yep, this is probably the single biggest thing I hate about that car, the engine off-restart-off dance every time I park it in the garage or at Lowes.

Possible business plan:

Probably because the “average” car price is a deceptive and meaningless stat. How about the median car price? I can’t find it but would love to know. Averages can be horribly misleading. What is the average of 1, 2, 3, 4, 10? It’s 4, yet 80% of the data set is at/below the average, and 20% is 250% of the average. Take

For anyone interested in a very entertaining look at the real bad ol’ days of Ford quality, read “A Savage Factory” by Robert Dewar. Still one of my favorite automotive reads about brutal 1970's factory life at Ford.

I’m guessing this average is not really representative of what people are paying. For example, lots of luxury and truck buyers paying $800 to $1,000, and then a bunch of folks at $300 to $500. Could yield an average of $700 that few people are actually paying. Would like to hear the mean cost in addition to the

I know, I was agreeing :-) Saying a hatch is useless because the clubs won’t fit without a seat down is weak. Just...put the seat down, that’s why it goes down. I think it’s an unrealistic criticism for a small-ish car.

I work for a private engineering company, with typically a heavy design season in the spring. Our president produces consistent motivation throughout the year - not just when she feels the need for some near-term goal - mixed with honest, not-panic-inducing feedback. And this spring was a little rough, so she gave

I’ve ridden this descent and the climb/descent next door, Horseshoe Meadows, which is 50% higher but not quite as steep (still very steep though!). Whitney Portal feels very safe, glass-smooth road, good sight lines, and only 2 hairpins to speak of. Horseshoe Meadows on the other hand has like 20 really tight

My clubs ride in my GTI for 9 months of the year and I have to put a seat down. They will not fit transverse in the trunk. Hell, they will not fit sideways in my wife’s GLC trunk (they will at an angle but that trunk is way deeper), so I’m not sure this is a legit complaint.

The MGU-H also works in reverse, to generate electricity, which it does at high engine/boost speeds, and I believe on spool-down off-throttle, so it’s not just an anti-lag device, it adds a lot of efficiency. But, from Day 1 it was also the most difficult hybrid component to get right (extremely finicking trying to

I paid $26,700 + 6% PA tax for my 2016 SE manual with LP in January 2016. I love the hell out of my car, and even with 112,000 miles still looks brand new. So I choke on seeing this ask for a 2018 4 years after its birth. My car was like $33,000 MSRP, and I suppose I would have paid that if that is what they were

I suspect if they do build it (which they won’t) it would essentially become another Bismarck - too valuable to risk being destroyed so they keep it locked away not doing its job, and the second they let if off the leash, the Russians would hunt it down for their own PR. Also, waste of money on a 40 year old Soviet

Very true if you have a mortgage, but rents have been increasing dramatically in recent years. I’m entering year 11 on my current mortgage and yes, it is fantastic that is costs me “less” each year, even with property tax increases. Not so for renters.
