Upstage, lads! This is my only number!

Muppet Treasure Island

Trump wears incredibly ill-tailored clothes. That does a lot to contribute to the illusion you are describing. Also, he’s just a horrible looking man in general.

It’s like when China makes cheap knockoffs of popular toys and everything is disturbingly off model

I mean, if you referred to him as an elderly toddler wearing clothes intended to fit someone else...you wouldn’t be wrong.

...Is there something wrong with the photo? Why does Trump look either like he is 4 feet tall or is an elderly toddler wearing his father’s work clothes?

I thought that went without saying by now?

Also known as lying.

It’s clearly a different kind of fabric. Someone just wants to start some shit.

Agreed. They are only remotely the same if your version of same is “simple white dress with sleeves” but the neck doesn’t match (Elizabeth’s looks more off-the-shoulder than boatneck) and the cut of skirt isn’t even similar at all (Meghan’s is basically a loose mermaid and the other is straight up princess).

The wickstead version of the dress has pleats and makes the models boobs look dumpy so I’d say not the same dress. Also I feel like maybe I’m the only one left in the world who doesn’t think an item of clothes has to be skin tight to fit well. That dress looked great on the MM and fabric is allowed to move in my world.

That does not look like the same dress. Just the same basic style of dress.

I’m so sorry you experienced that. I appreciate you articulating that the subtlety of grooming makes it too easily passed over. :(

I’m normally all for the sarcasm here but this article upsets me and I didn’t even have these experiences. I’m sorry that you had to experience it and that you had to come to a site that is generally pretty good and see this steaming pile of a hot take.

Exactly. The argument that this is a dog and this happens at dog shows is a moot point when you make the dog talk. This movie isn’t supposed to be accurate, it’s supposed to be a story people (kids in this case) are supposed to connect with.

Yup exactly. If kids didn’t relate to animals/animated objects then these movies wouldn’t be so successful. Hell, look at a movie like Zootopia. They’re animals but basically might as well not be with the very mature human and societal themes being explored. Glad to see most people pointing out the tone of this

The way these scenes were described were almost exactly what I went through as a kid by my abuser. “this is normal, just relax. This is how it’s done, you’re fine, think of something else.”

Totally agree. I’m really surprised Jez is being so dismissive of this. FWIW, the same thing was noted by non partisan Common Sense Media. Their language was more of an objective description of the scene, but it is what it is: wrong.

Yeah me too. It doesn’t matter that it’s a fucking dog. Kids watch cartoon animal shows because they love animals. The way it’s explained, it sounds fucked up and rightfully should be cut.

Kids, especially very young ones, emulate what they see in movies. They identify with Lightning McQueen, who’s a car for crying out loud, and want to be brave like Nemo. It’s not a particularly funny joke (as in, it’s dumb and unoriginal) and I can absolutely see a kid who’s experienced some form of sexual abuse
