Agreed. I imagine him sitting there saying to himself “don’t get involved. You don’t need this crap. You got a good GPA, haven’t been to the office, it’s almost the holidays”. Then the teacher gets hit and he’s like “Oh no, it’s on.”

Reminds me of a time, in grad school, where two super “progressive” guys critiqued the hell of a study comparing trust of law enforcement across different racial groups in South Africa. They said the study was fundamentally flawed because race doesn’t exist. Could not be convinced that while, yes, they are correct

I get that, but all I can think is, “oh my god, stop saying ‘fuck’ so much, the teacher is RIGHT there.”

The arbitrary-rules thing drives me batty as well. My kids attend a suburban school district with a large minority population. The prevailing wisdom of the school administration has been to “keep those kids in check” by handing out suspensions and bringing in the cops for fairly minor things. One scuffle in the school

Oh, I believe that this kid should get nothing more than a talking to (and a thank you,) but that’s not the way it works. Unfortunately, there is nothing built in for nuance. It’s akin to the “three strikes and you’re out” garbage. It’s quite discouraging. A month ago, one of my students was straight up attacked by

He was sitting there fairly calm before that. It was very disrespectful and ridiculous that the one teen hit the teacher and didn’t use that as opportunity to stop and apologize. You can even tell there is delay before he interjects to see what happens. And he warns him and yells you just hit the teacher. And the fact

I wish that’s how it works. Maybe in that particular school system but in NYC, the kid could be a white-knight boy scout...as long as he threw a punch and it was witnessed by someone, he’s getting suspended.

agreed...NYC teacher here and former dean of discipline in a scanning school...it’ll be suspension for all three of them. In NYC it’s automatic regardless of who’s at fault (most of the time).

hahahahahaha....look you guys, it’s “guy who doesn’t get how the school system works” guy.

Before you start calling a human being “scum” maybe you should look at how much power a teacher has in this situation. Then proceed to vote for people who actually understand how education works.

You apparently know very little about how the education system works. The teacher doesn’t determine punishment in a situation like this one. If a student assaults another student, regardless of the situation, they are suspended. It’s part of the education code - the law, in other words.

True story - he’ll get 5 days of suspension. The one who hit the teacher will face expulsion. The other will get 2-3 days suspension.

I’m up late googling good teen action and I get this shit?

He’s a good teen

Vigilante teen is a strong black principled teen, and we’ve all seen this movie before.

You are unfortunately correct. Here’s hoping his suspension is postponed and a probation is instead enforced.

Idk how you guys do it. Teens can be bad as hell.

Bad(ass) teen. Teacher is fine, doesn’t even appear phased by any of this, and he’s likely to get the most punishment of the three students. He ended a harmless brawl by ko-ing one kid and throwing another onto his back. He doesn’t deserve the shit that’s about to rain down on him, but there’s nothing anyone can do

Good, bad, or indifferent, he controlled the situation as best he could.

Vigilante teen is a good teen.
