Seems like you’re overreacting. Remedy is trying something new, and this is a solution to a problem they encountered. Why’re you turning it into a completely separate DRM issue?

Because it is really, honestly that good

Madden has a vast world? You typo that or on drugs lol?

What I’m asking is what exactly is wrong with it and how do you fix it. You seem to have no answers.

You need playtesters to tell you what elements they feel are needed. They aren’t telling you “add X”, they’re saying “It was problematic that I didn’t know fact Y”, and the designers then decide what to do about it.

Sales of the games are more than citation enough. They sell way more than games which lack this stuff, including stuff like Ico. I mean, go on, tell us some games which have minimalist or no UI elements BY DEFAULT (not optionally), which sell millions or tens of millions of copies (and aren’t sims).

The thing is brah, I don’t believe you, so now, by lying blatantly, you’re undermining everything you’re saying.

Fast travel can go wrong, but at the same time, you can’t have a vast world without it AND expect lots of people to buy your game.

You hate UIs. This is well-established. No-one doubts you hate UIs. All UIs, no exceptions. That’s cool. It’s a shitty opinion, but it’s all yours.

“Is it mechanically possible for you to fuck yourself?” I laughed my ass off at that one.

Wow, could you have picked crappier examples? Haha! I suspect not.

There’s no trouble with it as long as it’s optional and the world is designed reasonably sensibly if it isn’t used.

Oh is that FC3? Or Primal? We are talking about a MINIMAP use here. Why are you pointing to some of the worst UI in the industry of gaming? Mass gamers need their objective markers, hints, minimaps, ammo count, weapon wheel... etc... Playtests are there to prove it. You just need to make the UI the best possible way

So you, random burner on Kotaku, are smarter all the designers, all the marketing and market research guys, and all the QA testers who thought this stuff was a good idea?

Dude, get over yourself. You aren’t everyone.

People in playtests are ASKING for this. I’ve been in the industry long enough to know this. At least, you can turn those options off if you don’t like them. For a guy that WANTS them, but we would not put them in... Then, there is no options for him. You have the option to turn everything off, should be simple enough.

Turn em off, simple. ALOT of people need those.

Whats the trouble with fast travel? 2016 games are bigger than their 90s predecessors and I personally loathe having to continually trace my steps backwards through places I’ve been and cleared out already. Now if the places get repopulated or new things happen then I agree, some value to walking back.

Them being on by default is the right situation.

I always pressed A during the third sway. Don't know why, just always have.
