I'd say it's funny, but lets see him move the controls to the top half of the 3DS.

Well that still puts Nintendo behind every other major digital content provider from Amazon and Apple to Sony and Microsoft. And we've also seen articles on Kotaku about people who had trouble getting Nintendo to do it for whatever reason.

Because there was clearly a need for 2DS. I mean, the 3DS was selling so poorly. ;)

Hold a 3DS XL for over an hour trying to play Metroid II with the d-pad.

A 3DS with inputs arranged like the far more comfortable Wii U Gamepad? Awesome!

It does, but your digital purchases are not tied to it. If your Wii U dies so does your access to your digital purchases when you buy a replacement. Compare that to Sony and Microsoft, whose account systems track your purchases and allow simple re-downloads.

Wow. No Nintendo. Not until you pull your head out and start an account-based digital content system.

I'd love to make fun of this... But as an adult with grown up sized hands, the new circle pad, d pad, and button layout is making me extremely jealous.

On Gilgamesh, which apparently was a bad call. I've heard it was voted by forum-goers to be the RP server and by Reddit to be their official server. :-\ In other words, it's packed.

No, I'm treating this as an MMO. MMOs live for years not weeks. In a month (most likely sooner) I'm not going to care about Early Access server issues. Do both people still playing Diablo 3 care about launch week issues?

I'm not sure myself. I assumed they removed it in an attempt to lighten the load on the servers. Though it could have been an unintended side effect of congestion.

People are going to make cracks about the game's launch or how that means it's still broken, but seriously consider what they successfully managed to do here: they took a truly broken game and pulled a switcheroo more complex and complete than Cataclysm (FFXIV 2.0 is a completely different game than 1.0) on a fraction

It's true, it doesn't do a whole lot to change the MMO genre. The last game that tried to do that, that I was super hyped for, was incredibly un-fun when it finally released: Guild Wars 2. You can't do anything by yourself, and in giant groups everything has the "Oh look I'm in a 40-person raid so my contribution is

I'm going to go with maybe the board of directors had a lot of faith in what the new team could do or maybe the new team just really sold them on the game's new direction.

Oh cool. You guys making an official rem... oh, you aren't?

Exactly. With a classic remaster it doesn't take much to make it feel wrong. Especially if you still play the NES version.

:/ I was going to download the XBLA demo before buying this for my Wii U or PS3. So much for that foolproof plan. Any other platforms getting a demo? With a game like this, no demo, no sale.

I watch speed runners' live streams. Ever since SGDQ this year I've been addicted. And it led to starting to speed run and stream myself!

I interpreted that jeer the way I always use it myself: not to imply that NASCAR racing is simple or requires little to no skill, but to explain why I can't be bothered to watch it or be interested in it. It's not entertaining to me for exactly the reason you quoted.

tl; dr version: Save points good, auto-save good, checkpoints DIAF.
