We've thought about buying one, but we couldn't think of any other instance throughout the year that we would use it, and living in the city (with the lack of extra space) makes it seem like kind of a waste and a pain.

Love the vacuum idea, provided it's actually a good one - I've heard for years that pine needles will totally jack up your vacuum. Is it simply that it will mess up the brush, and not the innards, so the hose is totally fine (as long as you empty it first)? If so, this changes the game.
