To this day I am disappointed that the episode "Monkees On The Line" did not lead to the creation of a short-lived game show called "Race Horse Or Band Name?"
Big kudos to the artists for emptying their sketchbooks on "The Heebie Jeebies". We got a new drawing of a scared Wander pretty much every time the camera cut to him, excellent work. The artwork was certainly much stronger than the writing tonight. The lesson in the "Heebie Jeebies" is so on the nose, Sylvia simply…
Insistently arguing that pitching Ruby balked in the winning run for Team Human? Maybe not, maybe that's just what I was hoping would happen…
As long as she doesn't start saying "karabast"…
Any episode with a lot of Fives is very welcome. As are lines making fun of Muscle Man's understanding of joke structure.
Agreed. I thought Clarence kicked off the night by asking who was playing for second (not that this is a competition). Great episode, the show seems at its best when it stays grounded.
Hammerspace earmuffs… Eileen comes prepared for anything.
Even if the show does not live up its promise, the comic strip-style artwork alone will keep me interested for a while. The animation itself is not amazing, but the characters and backgrounds look fantastic.
And on the subject of sisters with one-note traits, you gotta admit that working on some kind of vaudeville…
This was presumably followed by a Purple Heart attack, the biggest one Fred ever had…
ICE CREAM SODA!
"Who's gonna talk like Curly, since Curly isn't here?"
- Pain, underrated group.
Early in this episode, I was scared for a minute that this was going to be a clip show. This is Wander Over Yonder, so I should have known better. I was pleased to see some Wander and Sylvia backstory, and a very nice and fairly unique visual take on time travel. Another fine cartoon from the Wander crew.
My theory is that Wander is really Chamillionaire, who has traveled to a distant corner of the universe in the far future. After all, both are on record as wanting to show all of their Haters love.
There is an episode of Clutch Cargo, I think it was about a ghost ship, where Spinner asks Clutch if the ships in the harbor ever move…
I never could quite decide if that line was self-aware or not.
I suspected that the endless stream of butt jokes was a test, given how hard it contrasted with the seriousness that the council seemingly demanded. I did not see Sylvia being the one who cracked coming, though. Maybe others did, but the twist certainly worked on me.
.
I think the ending seems to fall a bit flat…
I would have felt better about the Inquisi-copters had we seen them prior to this episode. Establishing the goofier aspects of a show's universe before incorporating them into an especially serious episode can be effective.
A-Wing pilots are, apparently, such redshirts that they aren't even safe on the ground anymore.
Harsh.
Was thrilled to see another piece of McQuarrie's artwork make it into the show, and used to great effect too. I'm going to guess the thing where they turn into Dagobah's trees is not making it to the new canon, though…
I'll go along with the Bender comparison if AP-5 replies "I will not bite your shiny metal as-tromech" to one of Chopper's outbursts in a future episode.
