I love that Soviet album, particularly “Circuit Love” where the synths always make me think of geometric string art from the 70s. I dipped out of work to see them do an in-store at Waterloo Records and was mildly embarrassed that I was wearing khakis.

I read it as a judgmentally coded “Is my husband gay?” letter which is kind of tiresome at this point and Dan is not the audience for it (which supports your theory that the husband is writing this letter).

Oh I like it too (see Dead Space), but it feels like the mechanics are unbalanced with the Alien being a random, infinite respawn. Especially if you’ve spent a lot of time in lockers slowly making your way through a level only to be caught with some new mechanic at the end and have to replay an enormous section (find

That metaphor is delightfully morbid and accurate.

Same. I want to complain about how the survival-until-save mechanism in Alien: Isolation is tedious and annoying given the unpredictable success of sneaking (compared to, say, Dead Space). This land is our love! This love is our land!

I blew through Hellblade and RiME last weekend, both gorgeous. Although RiME had a detail that mirrored a recent death in my family and the ending hit unusually close to home. Moved on to Alien: Isolation, which has immaculate production design, but hasn’t captured the visceral dread of Dead Space yet. Just the

YAY SCRAWLER!

There’s my Chippy.

Bar exams include a day of MBE (multistate bar exam) which covers widely universal topics (e.g., contracts, torts, evidence, etc.). The other day (or two) cover that specific state’s laws, which would include its penal code. Typically the state-specific criminal portion would include pretrial schedules or punishment

Metroid Prime 4, please.

Technically that’s a polar bear.

Great articles! I’m sure it’s been discussed elsewhere, but New Donk City was both surprising but also core-Nintendo: a riff on Fourside from Eathbound and a celebration of Satoru Iwata and Nintendo’s lovingly oddball soul.
