To be fair, a Defender is a luxury vehicle compared to a leaf-sprung Series Rover with the old “two and a quarter” motor. :-)

I hated how in the new movies they just rammed it into things and bounced around like a 90's arcade game. No sense of danger at all. The old movies felt cool because they were nursing these old machines along.

The B52 has to be one of the best investments the Air Force has ever made if you simply consider how long it’s been in service and proven to be adaptable and reliable.

just add in some touchscreen infotainment and apple carplay + android auto and you pretty much have a modern vehicle

The B-52 was originally intended for flattening the USSR. They built a lot of them, most of which (the ones that weren’t chopped up as part of a nuclear treaty with the USSR) are parked in the desert, paid for. They need some cleaning and prep work, but consider them to be an assembly line ready component.

Maybe the can by hacked Chinese firmware like people have to do to work on John Deere tractors and Tesla cars.

Let’s suppose GE’s plan comes to fruition. That means in the year 2085 there could be some clueless movie director go to the Air Force and see if he can swing some B-52s appearing in his remake of Dr. Strangelove.

This might be a dumb question, but if they’re planning to keep the B-52 in service for another 70 or 80 years, then why don’t they build some new ones?
I know the production lines have long been shut down, but if it’s a cheap and viable platform then would it be worth it to build 70 or 80 new ones to gradually replace

And people say it was unrealistic for the Millennium Falcon for be around for 90 years. Once you have a platform that works...

While a platform lifespan close to 150 years seems insane for an aircraft

Imagine flying the same plane that your great-great-grandad once flew.

In troubled times, nothing lifts the national spirit like a good carpet bombing. Now, of course, it’s not PC.  Ahh, those were the days my friend, we thought they’d never end....

The only non-front engined Camry that will exist will be a non-engined EV.

Or, keep the transverse layout and lay a 4-cyl on it’s side, so the head is under the rear seat. And put the gas tank low against the front firewall, by the driver/front passenger feet.

  • Frunks are stupid unless you put things in there you dont intend on taking out every day.

Why not a boxer 4 underneath the rear passengers?

Hello!...Is it me you’re looking for?

So if the drivetrain moves to the rear does the Camry’s dent move to the front?

I think I like the extra vents on the car; they make it look a little less bland, a little more exciting.

What you say: Toyota should make a mid-engine Camry.

What Toyota hears: We need more fake vents.
