I own a 2005 tC and when people ask, I tell them it stands for Toyota Camry because they have the same engine. Then we chuckle mildly at my lame joke and move on.
I think they’d be better saving the Celica name for something to replace the Scion tC, since the tC sort of replaced the Celica in the lineup so many years ago (sporty FWD coupe).
