It neither stars Mortensen, nor is it anywhere near his first movie, but god DAMN he tears it up for his 10 minutes or so of screentime in The Prophecy.

It’s a great comic moment that allows the audience a quick laugh amid all the madness and horror but it doesn’t ruin the tone of the movie or come off as hokey. It’s a perfect line delivered perfectly.

Man, when that head (pictured above) grows legs and starts walking outta the med bay, and the radio dude goes “you gotta be fucking kidding me,” that’s when I knew this sucker was one of the best horror films of all time.

I cannot tell you how happy I am that Last Action Hero is getting a reappraisal. I’ve been shouting that that movie is Actually Good since I was 13 years old.

I recently watched Last Action Hero for the first time (my parents didn’t let me see it when it came out, and it just sort of fell off my radar after that) and I was _so impressed_ by how well it held up. It feels like the movie that every Tollywood/Bollywood action movie wants to be, just unadulterated absurd action

A few years back, I was at a horror convention, it was, I think the 35th anniversary of The Thing, most of the cast was there, not Kurt Russell, but most of them. They had a panel, and someone asked about the critical reception, they all answered, and when it got to Wilford Brimley, he just said, “fu*k critics.” LOL,

ALTHOUGH I DID PLAY AN UNMODDED SKYRIM WAY BACK WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT, I COULD NOT IMAGINE DOING SO NOW. TEXTURES, WEATHER, BUG FIXES, THE APPEARANCE OF THE NPC’S...SERIOUSLY, LOOKING AT OLD PICTURES OF THE UNMODDED ORIGINAL NPC MODELS IS VERY MUCH NIGHTMARE FUEL. FORTUNATELY, I DO NOT SLEEP.

Hi ‘berc!

It’s very, very far from cheap. Not to make it look good. Blank firing is orders of magnitudes cheaper and easier. It’s also perfectly safe if you have a competent crew.

But you aren't going to get a PVC or foam core revolver to ever look like it fires.  Hell, you probably won't get the cylinder to rotate with a trigger or hammer pull

I don’t know, it seems like it would be fairly difficult to modify an existing gun to only fire blanks. Blanks aren’t inherently safe either, so any modifications would need to be carefully designed and tested. what happens if someone gets injured using a modified gun because the modifications weren’t done correctly? T

Depends on how high your suspension of disbelief is. You can’t knowingly recreate the recoil of a fired gun using a non-firing model. Sci-Fi movies can get away with it because they all fire lasers, but the difference in someone reacting to an actual gun firing in their hands and acting like the gun is recoiling is

For revolvers — so you can see bullets in the exposed part of the cylinder.

Why the fuck would live ammo be anywhere near a film set using prop weapons

I look at it this way: Saying that if you’re vaccinated you won’t die from getting COVID so you shouldn’t worry about getting COVID is like saying you won’t die from getting kicked in the crotch so you shouldn’t worry about getting kicked in the crotch. Does anyone want to get kicked in the crotch? NO. So you should

If you really want to illustrate how outmoded broadcast TV is, just go up and say, “Thank you very much. My full acceptance speech has now been posted to Twitter.  Good night.”

That’s why I always wear a cup and goggles when I accept awards.

That only works if the orchestra and/or cutting the mics has any effect on the person. When Elaine Stritch finally won a Tony for her one-woman show after about 112 years on Broadway, IIRC she started her speech by telling the conductor to not even bother. She goes through her allotted time, and the orchestra starts.

Yes, fine, you won’t die from COVID if you’re vaccinated

Yep. You get your time to get your poignant thing in, and if you can’t in the time allotted, that’s a personal problem for the winner. Cut the mics and play them out.
