American Gods was more unreadable than unfilmable. I wanted to quit it a few times, especially once I got to around the middle and realized it wasn't going to get any better. The only good thing really was the bit about the lake, which was a very Stephen King aside.

Well even in the books they said Odetta was playing a caricature, so it wasn't written to sound realistic….it's just that the characters didn't catch on right away.
