I watched the first one via the advanced stream Sunday night with some friends & some beers & we had a blast. My only real criticism is that I think the delivery of the riffing in the first episode is a tad too over-eager, but I'm sure that will change as the new performers get used to the whole process. The writing

Hey! That's mine! Guessing you're on the Facebook Dissolve group, eh? The only one on there that was wrong was the "Hercules" movie. They are riffing A Hercules movie (I won't spoil it so you can see which one come Friday), but not the Gloan / Globus Lou Ferrigno-starring "Hercules" movie. You should seriously check

I think the only reason Girls Town doesn't have a bigger following is because it hasn't been officially released yet. It's the classic combination of a fun, stupid movie with great riffs that's just waiting to be rediscovered.

"San Francisco International" was actually MST3K's first Emmy nomination ("Deathstalker" was their second, and, unfortunately, last)! I need to check it out again, because I finally have a good copy of it from a recent Shout Factory box set. For years, the only version I could find online was a terrible 4th-generation

I am unapologetic in my love of the entire Coleman Francis oeuvre. Skydivers, Red Zone Cuba, & Beast of Yucca Flats are all shining examples of the "inept to the point of crossing over into surreal outsider art" style of filmmaking that Creeping Terror, Monster A-Go-Go, Manos, Dr. Z, etc. belong to. Some fans find

The MacKenzie brothers were created & performed by actual Canadians, though; it wasn't an American idea to lamely skewer our northern neighbors. I love that their creation was push-back to SCTV's network mandate that the show needed several minutes of Canada-specific content, so they responded by creating stupid,

"Thankfully, Beck got off his duff and recorded his own takes on the songs a couple years later…"

So there's been no new Menomena music since 2012 because Justin decided to play bass on a bad Bloc Party album? Lame.

I think there'd be a bigger fanbase for Frankenhole if Adult Swim had aired the first season in order instead of airing Mike Lazzo's favorite episodes first (Michael Jackson & Thomas Jefferson - arguably the worst episodes of the series) & the rest in some random, tossed-off manner. The show was never really intended

It's one of the reasons I hesitate to call "Space Mutiny" or "Zombie Nightmare" some of their best episodes. The riffing in both are a lot of fun, but those host segments are just the worst of the worst. For my money, "Time Chasers" is a much better introduction.

The last thing Paul did was work on those terrible Flash cartoons with Jim.

I am part of that elite group: my family was camping in the middle of nowhere, it was pouring rain out, & the two-screen movie theater in town was playing "Gone Fishin'" & something that was R-rated, so my parents naturally had to default to the family-friendly feature. My VHS box blurb would be "…preferable to

I forgot about the host segment where Frank finally got a day off from henching & was using it to go see the pretty much completely forgotten flop "Squanto: A Warrior's Tale" until I recently re-watched Amazing Transparent Man (great shorts, mediocre feature). I laughed harder than I probably should have at a segment

Eh, what nerd-friendly comedy property in the past 30 years hasn't used Star Wars in one way or another for some laughs? It's not like MST3K avoided making Star Wars jokes in the original series, either. The new Crow got some laughs out of me in the video & I didn't pay for it, so I'll give it a pass.

He does seem perfect for this, right? And one would assume he has some spare time on his hands after leaving The Daily Show…

I view KTMA & Season 1 as something akin to early demo tapes of one of my favorite bands. The demos usually don't come close to the quality & focus of the band's actual released albums, but they're still interesting enough versions of something I love to put on every once in a while.

KTMA had piles of Sandy Frank productions & lousy "packed with 70's C-list stars" TV movies for them to dig through. I'd love to see them re-riff some of them like they did with the Gamera movies, Time of the Apes, etc. if they can get the rights.

I actually prefer his KTMA riffing to his season 1 riffing; as it was largely improvised & he was the quickest on his feet of the three, he had the greatest hit-to-miss ratio in the theater segments. Shifting to scripted riffs in the first season really seemed to bog him down. Plus, the dude was 17 when he was on the

Joel has also teased the release of the "earliest" KTMA episodes (the legendary first 3 that nobody bothered to tape?) to backers if they hit their next goal ($3.3 million) by the end of the Turkey Day marathon. They're guaranteed to not be all that funny, but at least those among us who are obsessive enough to watch

It was playing about an hour away from my family's home & I had just scored a really good report card, so my parents rewarded me by taking me to see it. It was 2 weeks after the initial release, but the theater was still pretty full for a Saturday afternoon. Pretty sweet deal, really.
