I was at the second Conventio-Con in 1996 (the one where they showed the movie, deleted host segments, held a panel where they bitched about Universal's treatment of the film for about an hour, etc.) & only heard the new version of the main theme song by Dave Alin that was recorded for the film played over some

The “Mystery Science Theater 3000 Love Theme” is actually the instrumental ballad that plays over the end credits of the show, guys.

Knowing Dave Fridmann's production style, the album was probably INCREDIBLY hot. *audio geek rim-shot*

Same here - I never warmed up to the blown-out synth-pop of Oracular Spectacular but Congratulations hit my psychedelic prog-rock sweet spot. I hope there's still at least a little of that on the new record…

I laughed because characters kept mentioning Pootie Tang, which then reminded me that Pootie Tang's license plate says "KLEEPA".

Dino said it's on a "Moral Orel-y hiatus". So, yeah, cancelled sounds about right.

Yeah, I was surprised that I liked it as much as I did. Lots of fun, odd jokes that you pick up on repeat viewings, fantastic animation & voice work. And, just like all the other Aardman films, it had HORRENDOUS, broad promos in the US that made me think it was going to be utter shit.

Despite the tossed-off, dismissive & generally grouchy-to-have-to-write-about-this-fucking-thing review it received here, November's Moral Orel special "Beforel Orel" was a wonderful single episode treat for those of us who were fans of the series.

the US version of "mink car" is indeed lame. i do actually really like the UK version, though - it cuts out most of the flab that made the US version such a lame record, adds 2 better tracks & re-sequences it in a much more satisfying order: http://tmbw.net/wiki/Mink_C…

same here - it's the first non-kids album by TMBG that i actually liked less the more i listened to it. to me, there is one excellent song on it (cloissone) & 3 or 4 pretty good songs, but the rest is dull bordering on really fucking annoying.

I think "The Else" is their best post-90's album. It's not amazing, but it's a solid B in my book. It kinda peters out after "Withered Hope", but that's still a solid run of 10 or so tunes.
Also, count me as one of those people who isn't a big fan of "The Mesopotamians". I find that the fans who primarily like TMBG for

oh boy! i can't wait to make fun of the shitty, faux-naive album artwork that this record is sure to have!

Really, "Wanderlust" was a stand-out track for you? I normally dig Lou Reed, but Christ, he sounds fucking awful on that song.
