I don’t see why people like it so much aside from the a buildings.

It’s weird that the article cited multiple films, but not Shaun of the Dead.

If only they read the Kotaku comment sections, they could have avoided this entire mess. Shame, really.
Me too. I’m all ok for older games and mostly stuff that you can’t legitimately buy anymore, but this is simply wrong. As a gamer, and even a passionate retro gamer using his fair share of emulators from time to time, this is... just wrong. I mean, how can you label yourself a gamer and not be ashamed of not…
Metroid music is something I enjoy. It's not music I'd seek out to listen to outside the game, but it always felt fitting for the alien world isolation motif.
Sometimes subjective opinions are still wrong.
I like open world more than you seem to (loved BOTW, etc) but the idea that a game as claustrophobic and progression-centric as Metroid should be open world is fucking insane.
Yep, I realised I’d written a lot and figured some details might have been getting too specific for one comment.
Well said.
Thank you, Prime Directive. Expanded the comments to say approximately the same thing, but without the industry experience or specific jargon to back it up. I understood the concept in general as a developer, but you did 1000x better explaining than I could have.
Thank you for trying to explain this in layman term. Really gave some insight about the differences between online game architecture and website architecture.
They are, New World runs on Gamelift. This comment is a bit technical, but maybe interesting if you’re curious about how this stuff works. I used to work for an MMO middleware company in the early 2010s, so server scaling was a big part of my job. I’m not in that job any more but I still keep up with changes and I…
450 hours worth of time is not a small amount to spend playing any game. I’ve been playing games for 30+ years, and I can count the number of games I’ve dedicated that kind of total playtime to on one hand.
What the heck is “deciduous sound design” ?? It’s a tree-t for the ears? It falls flat in the fall? You want to leave it alone? It really branches out? It’s got a real phloem? It harkens back to the roots of gaming? It’s knot very good? I’m so confused!
Is this correct? I have been playing the Windows PTCGO client for a couple months now, and it is neither of those things.
I remember when I first played SMB, leaning right on the couch, and flicking the controller up every time I needed to jump, as if the physical motion would give Mario some extra speed/height. I remember other people doing it as well. I’d played games a lot before on the Atari 2600, without moving my body, so I assume…
Seven Costanza? You’re serious?
Yeah. It’s a beautiful name for a boy or a girl. Especially a girl. Or a boy.
I don’t think so.
Wait, you don’t like the name?
It’s not a name. It’s a number.
I know. It’s Mickey Mantle’s number. So not only is it an all around beautiful name, it is also a living tribute.
It’s awful. I hate…
I’m one of those weirdos who plays with an Xbox controller on PC and I can’t imagine trying to play with a keyboard and mouse. Using hot keys and triggers gives you access to like 54 skills and abilities instantly- it just takes some practice.
