Since they’re not grandfathering in the old operating system / ui but designing a new one from scratch it probably comes down to prioritizing the most used features and then patching in old stuff later.

Came here to say the same thing. I hate that it only shows your most recent games, and if you want to find anything else, you have to go to look at all your games, and then tab over to installed games. WTF?
All this stuff is good and all, but I still want folders. I gave up on Nintendo ever bothering to bring those back; I really hope that Sony isn’t going to forget about them too.
Can’t we just remember this man respectfully without wishing someone else died in their place? This comment betrays everything the man stood for :(
I got 60 solid hours of real, fun gameplay FOR FREE. If people want to spend money to get the chance at certain characters and five star weapons—good on them
Why do people assume that the people footing the bill must be rich? All too often the people who are most prone to addictive tendencies don’t have that much disposable income. These games make their money by manipulating those who are the most vulnerable.
while the people with lots of disposable income
And yet, great single player games keep getting made and selling well.
People get the option of whether to stay on Classic Classic or promote their character to their desired expansion stopping point.
One of my only two real complaints with the game are that low levels are extremely boring, specifically due to the reason you mentioned.
Yeah, I’m sorry but we’re in 2021. I feel like we give Pokemon such a pass on the shit graphics department. Arceus looks like dogshit to me tbh. I feel like if any other game were previewed in this day and age without the Pokemon title slapped on it, then we would look at that jagged ass trailer and think ‘haha what…
It’s hard to not compare this to the Link’s Awakening remake, which executed upon the same idea—a modern twist on the original visual style—but better. Link’s Awakening was polished and looked (and sounded!) like a Switch game. This just looks cheap, like a mobile phone game. Please let the final build look better.
It looks like the exact same, but in 3D and someone pushed the saturation bar waaaaaaay up.
It’s a complete missed opportunity in moving the 4th gen games into the 8th gen.
Some of it looks good (the battles) but somehow the overworld feels a little... cheap I want to say.
I’m trying to convince myself that it’ll get better by 2022, but... I dunno.
Oh, BotW is by no means a graphics/rendering showcase, but it is a pretty remarkable achievement in leveraging EXTREMELY limited hardware to produce a very beautiful, studio Ghibli-esque aesthetic. If you want a console game that will blow you away in the graphics/rendering department, you’d have to buy a PS4 and play…
Eh. Plenty of games on the Switch have looked and run far better than this. This just comes down to the developers.
Wish they could have used the BotW engine as well though. This almost looks like Zelda is a console generation ahead.
Breath of the Wild is so much prettier looking, though. I always wanted an open world Pokemon game but from what they’ve shown it looks so dingy and plain.
Feel like part of the charm of Snap is that it’s a Rails Shooter.
