I love the oil change arguments. I bought my current car, a 2010, new. Dealer prices for oil changes where reasonable so had them done there the first few years while the car was under warranty. They indicated a 3750 mile interval, half the 7500 standard or something.

In no way a fan of the jeans.

Ahh... I was just thinking this article reminded me of a couple candy stores we used to have around here. Could find a Charleston Chew, a Marathon Bar, or a Zero, and that made me very happy.

Same here in PHX, been almost 20 years since they came off the menu.

Been almost 20 years since they came off the menu in Phoenix. But when I’m back east, I try for at least two visits.

I used to drive a limo part time for a guy that was an idiot. His truck, my goodness. It was a Ford F-150 that he accessorized to death. Airhorns on the roof, had a ladder on the right side of the cab like an RV, don’t recall a roof rack. He was a NASCAR fan so of course his front fenders were covered in stickers.

The worst truck I ever saw, in Mesa, Arizona, 8 or 9 years ago.

The “I’ll take it” approach to accessorizing your vehicle. That’s when you hand the accessory catalog back and say, “I’ll take it.”.

Body only lifts on trucks. I remember the first one I saw up close, took me a minute to realize what I was seeing. Sitting in my car at a light, looking through the truck’s wheel well at the top of the engine. Then seeing the full frame of the truck below the body.

Would you call this some sort of “six shooter”?

Opposite here.

What an amazing adventure.  Loved every bit.  Can’t wait for the follow ups.

Just started reading the linked article about the Fake Restaurant.

Have not.

I thought I’d seen all episodes. Must have blocked this one from memory. Ouch.

This was about 1985 in Chicago. Very rare for one to be that clean with all that winter salt.

We had a 1977 Grand Prix. Spotless car, but all the things you said. AM radio, vinyl seats, etc.   Was supposed to be my car when I turned 16... then my Dad blew the engine in it.

They were good looking cars. I had a 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Classic Brougham. Olds released the new, front-wheel drive Cutlassi (is that the correct plural of Cutlass?) in 1988. My understanding is the ‘88 Cutlass Supreme Classic is just a rebadged ‘87. I dunno.

My Dad had a ‘84 Ninety-Eight Regency Brougham. It too had a sweet factory paint, metallic brown. Great looking car. Wheel skirts on the rear, the high whitewalls tires on wheels with wire wheel covers.

Took me a minute to get past the header photo. My first car was a 1984 Ford Escort, 2dr, in white. This one is obviously of a higher trim level, as there were none lower than mine.

Been a couple years, but have had several dreams where I still had it.
