This is further proof that GM’s bankruptcy was 100% a detriment of their own making. Piss-poor products that were profit squeezed to be barely working and built to last (problem free) for barely their 1 year warranty.

That aside who would buy something that an inattentive Carola driver can total out with a parking lot

The 124 and the miata are made at the exact same plants. FITA makes the engines and Mazda makes the chassis and transmissions for both. So reliability should be about the same for both. The Fiat and MAzda have different engine and transmission mapping but after that they are mostly identical.

Agreed. It seems like they just slapped something together to meet the CA demand for an EV model for the segment you sell in. It’s why the Mini EV became a thing. It’s why the SMARt EV is a thing as well (at least in the US) It’s why Ford sold a Fusion EV that you couldn’t get your hands on.

So many half assed EV’s

If you can charge it at work or at night it is usable range. However the battery weight and size makes it still a hard sell.

The Prius is a slug unless its already moving on the interstate. Then its drivers turn into the Ricky Bobby inside them all and weave through traffic and tailgate about every truck or van they see.

The fun part of the Prius is that they can get a good boost on both the EV motor and the gas one.

Turbo Fiat says hi. Its a Miata with a turbo kit from the factory and a tune away from some fun numbers.

If i remember right, at LeMans it’s ether limp it back, or get stuck track side for HOURS with the bike/car. It is quite the task getting machines ferries around after a crash that didn’t get carte to the garage.
Another benefit of this is that you can potentially get back in the race if its repairable (by the rules)

Adding a toll booth on the interstate on the outskirts leaving the Detroit metro area would do that as well.

They probably have an aftermarket frunk bin you can add. The space is there, they just didn’t want to mold a front compartment that would require a new set of crash testing to accommodate.
It is literally take off the existing engine cover and snap down a bin with a lid.

Hell.  They could do it again as a hybrid, but dial up the EV motor to fill in what the detuned motor cant.

230 miles is plenty for a city car where you can plug in at home or work.
I’m curious to see how car the 11 gallon safety cell tank in the GR toyo will carry that boosted inline 3 tied to a heavier corolla.

The motors are centrally mounted to reduce unstrung mass. A hub motor for an EV even if direct drive would have so much wheel hop it would be terrible on the road. An off-road vehicle with say a port drop mount and hub wheels would be an amazing rock crawler or mud buggy with its ability to disconnect the wheels from

The benefit of a FWD biased system for an EV is that the majority of braking is done on the front tires and you can have the regen braking much more aggressive than in a RWD EV. That aside, the weight bias needs to be set up to facilitate a FWD EV just line in a gas car.

the EV will eat into the brake pads a bit more than you expect for the added weight in harsher driving and the regen doesn’t bring the vehicle to a full stop. It uses mundane brakes for the last 7-0mph. so creeping in traffic will eat at the brakes just as well.

Didn’t The Grand Tour basically do this for Detroit when they went there?

Just tell the checkout clerk, “its for lube wrestling” and that usually gets them the laughs.

Nice reach there. Hope you don’t throw you back out trying to grab for that top shelf.

One could say.  It his the bullseye.

Only if it was a restomod with a modern, reworked running gear and frame that is in a solid piece.

Strong out the gate argument for you opinion and selling your (proven) biased opinion. Don’t trash others in the opening of your ideals.
